Pärnu CHP plant

Pärnu Elektrijaam is a biomass-fuelled CHP plant located in City of Pärnu in west Estonia. It was commissioned in November 2010.

Local biofuels as a source of energy

The Pärnu CHP plant uses local biofuels – woodchips to produce electricity and heat. Electricity is sold to Nordpool market and heat is delivered to district heating network, which is owned by Fortum. Fortum has 707 customers and 19 000 end users in Pärnu.
